He raised an alarm and alerted the security staff,' the police officer added.

The security staff acted immediately and caught the accused with the laptop near the staircase while he was trying to leave the hotel.

'On interrogation, Goel disclosed that he was working as a senior executive in a private company but lost his job due to economic recession nearly one and half years ago. He is well acquainted with the five-star hotel culture because he had worked as a marketing executive,' the police officer added.

'The accused committed thefts due to unemployment. He has stolen laptops from Oberoi Hotel, Imperial Hotel and the Shangri-La Hotel. He has been arrested and a case has been registered against him. Further investigations in the matter are on,' the police officer said.
