Chandigarh, Sep 7 - Possible involvement of some education department officials with two touts arrested Saturday night for offering to get a woman a teacher's post for a bribe of Rs.400,000 is being investigated, officials said.

Education secretary-cum-vigilance officer of Chandigarh Ram Niwas told IANS Monday: 'Police investigation in this case is in progress. While checking the past call details (of the touts), it was found that one of these touts was in touch with Chandigarh's DPI (director, public instructions), schools.'

'However, we cannot conclude anything just on the basis of call details. Police investigation is still on and if anyone is found guilty, then strict action will be taken against him,' he added.

Samwartak Singh, DPI (schools), is a Haryana cadre civil services officer on deputation to Chandigarh administration with the education department.
