Digvijay, who has been chief minister of the state for 10 years - 1993 to 2003, was allegedly injured in a cane charge in a clash between Congress workers and the police in his home district in Rajgarh on Tuesday when leading a demonstration against the power crisis in the state. He has received two stitches in his head.

While Congress maintained that Singh was injured in a police lathicharge, the local administration denied the same.

Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Jagdish Deora also claimed that the former chief minister was hit by a brick hurled by the agitating Congressmen.
