B. Sharan, president of an NGO Nyay Bhoomi, asking the court to jail all the senior officials of the MCD under section 166 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) for not paying heed to the court orders.

The court had earlier this month taken cognizance of Sharan's petition and summoned all the 12 respondents.

The petitioner had alleged that despite repeated orders from the high court and the Supreme Court, the civic agency was not providing proper basic amenities to the citizens of Delhi.

Sharan had pointed out that a drain running from the Narmada apartments to Nilgiri apartments in Alaknanda was filled with garbage.
