Angry villagers blocked the Ranchi-Gumla national highway Thursday, demanding a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the incident and filing of cases against the policemen involved.

Meanwhile, Maoist group the People's Liberation Front of India (PLFI) has called a strike in four districts -- Ranchi, Lohardagga, Gumla and Khuti -- to protest the killings. The group has demanded compensation to the families of the victims and a government job to a relative. It has also sought action against policemen involved in the incident.
