Abu Dhabi, Aug 13 - Gulf countries should accelerate their anti-terror drives as they are high profile targets for terrorists who want their heinous acts to get wider publicity, WAM news agency reported, citing a UAE newspaper.
Any bomb blast or other terrorist activity in the Gulf would give the terrorist much wanted publicity, the Gulf News said in its editorial Thursday.
However, the paper said the people and the leadership of the Gulf states 'have made it clear that they are united in condemning terrorists'.
The editorial, which was based on the latest arrest of several members of Al Qaeda in Kuwait, hailed the authorities for successfully arresting the terrorists and preventing possible loss of lives and properties in Kuwait.
On Tuesday, Kuwait's interior ministry said it had arrested six suspected Al Qaeda members who were planning a series of attacks on strategic sites in the country, among them the headquarters of the country's security agency and US Army base Camp Arifjan.
