Sydney, Aug 10 (DPA) Women living in Afghan refugee camps to escape the Taliban will benefit from the weekend's successful bid in Australia on the world record for the longest chain of bras.
'At least 20,000 (bras) will be going, probably at lot more than that,' organiser Bob Bauer said Monday.
The 166,625 donated bras were hooked together in Bundaberg, Queensland, to form a 163-km chain, 52 km longer than the previous record set in Cyprus three years ago.
Asked whether the bras would be sorted to ensure that racy numbers weren't sent to the conservative country that the hardline Muslim Taliban are trying to reclaim, Bauer said the local branch of the Afghan Women's Association (AWA) would make those decisions.
'I don't know what the sensitivities are there -- red, blue, green, black -- we'll leave the AWA to look after that side of things,' Bauer said.
