I have already asked all district collectors in the region to give me a list of available land,' he said.

The DMK leader added that his aim was to make Madurai, his parliamentary constituency, at par with Chennai in terms of industrial growth.

'I will do it at any cost and will ensure that the temple city and its adjoining areas are no inferior to any part of the state.'

Alagiri also said an advanced tooling and plastics product development centre would be set up in Madurai.

He added that Southern Petrochemicals Industries Corp's fertiliser unit in Tuticorin, which stopped operations due to fund crunch, would start functioning again soon.
