The event will be monitored by independent monitors and judges deputed by the Guinness World Records.
The programme will boost forest resources as well as create awareness among the masses about the environment, the minister said.
In view of the global significance of mangrove forests due to its protective role during Tsunamis, the government would also plant trees in the coastal areas of Sindh, Afridi told reporters here.
The project will be initiated in collaboration with the private sector, he said.
He added that Aug 18 will be declared as the National Forest Day and the public will be encouraged to plant trees on that day.
