'These portals will inform them (farmers) about the monsoon, weather conditions, latest technologies and will also help them to connect with the market to sell their produce at right price,' Gupta told IANS on the sidelines of the meet.

Added M. Moni, deputy director general of the government's web services organisation, National Informatics Centre: 'ICT will solve many problems. If the monsoon is delayed, we can inform them to delay the sowing process so that there can be minimal harvest loss.'

Moni also said about 12,000 fishermen's cooperative societies will be networked in the near future.
