Meanwhile, in terms of host cities statistics the Johannesburg's Soccer City Stadium is leading with 2,932 volunteer applications followed by Loftus Versfeld and Ellis Park with 2,268 and 2,247 respectively.
Cape Town has 1,754, Durban 1,543, Mangaung has 1,112 with Nelson Mandela Bay having received 621 thus far.
Volunteers will be required in areas such as transport, media, marketing, logistics, accreditation, spectator services, language support, administration and hospitality at the tournament's ten stadiums and nine host cities.
