New Delhi, Sep 11 - Four people from Jharkhand, including a medicine bulk trader, were arrested and heroin worth Rs.15 million was seized, Delhi Police said Friday.
According to Delhi Police's special cell, the inter-state gang of drug peddlers supplied heroin from Jharkhand to Delhi. Four members of the gnag - Rajeev Gupta, Vimlendu Shekhar Jha, Virender Turri and Laxman Pandit - have been arrested.
Police said 1.5 kg heroin worth Rs.15 million and four mobile phones used by these four were seized. While Gupta was arrested in Delhi, the other three were arrested in Jharkhand. All the three were brought to Delhi on a transit remand from Deoghar, Jharkhand.
According to police, the accused started drug trafficking to earn quick money. While Pandit was running a telephone booth, Jha is a graduate and diploma holder in marketing and management. He supplies medicines on a wholesale basis. Turri is a roadside vendor of clothes, and Gupta runs a small eatery in Deoghar.
