New Delhi, Sep 11 - A Maharashtra-based businessman was rescued from Uttar Pradesh after more than two months in captivity over a business dispute, police said here Friday.
Manoj Aggarwal, a paper merchant, had gone missing from a guest house here July 7.
'On July 13, the victim's family received a call that he was in custody of Noor Saleem Rana, who owns Rana Paper Mills at Muzaffarnagar of Uttar Pradesh. There was a dispute of payment of Rs.1.4 million between the two,' said a senior police officer.
'When Rana came to know that Aggarwal was in Delhi, he abducted him with the help of his associates who took him to the paper mill in Muzaffarnagar, where he was confined since 65 days,' the police officer added.
The victim was rescued this week after a joint operation of Delhi Police and the Uttar Pradesh police.
Rana was still absconding. 'Efforts are on to nab him and other accused in the case,' the officer added.
