Lucknow, Sep 10 - At least 15 people were killed after drinking spurious liquor in Saharanpur town of Uttar Pradesh, police said Thursday.
The deaths were first reported Tuesday. While two people died Tuesday, 10 died late Wednesday and another person died earlier Thursday, and two more deaths were reported late Thursday, the police said.
'Most of them bought the liquor from Khasauli locality of Deoband. Four wine shops have been sealed in this area. Samples have also been picked up from all the liquor outlets in the district and have been sent for tests,' Amit Chandra, additional superintendent of police, told IANS by phone.
Nearly a dozen people are undergoing treatment at various hospitals and the condition of some of them is reported to be serious.
Meanwhile, the entire police staff of Khasauli police station and the inspector of Deoband police station have been suspended for negligence.
