Agra, Sep 8 - Agitated over the murder of a businessman and the police's bid to pass it off as an accident, main markets of the city observed a shut down in protest Tuesday. The police have announced a probe into the murder.

Sunil Gupta, a jeweller, was shot dead by unidentified assailants Sunday night near Langra ki Chowki on the Agra Bypass. However, the police attributed his death to an accident.

On Monday, doctors who did the post mortem reported that Sunil was shot dead and recovered a bullet from the back of his head.

On Tuesday, several market associations gave a call for a shut down. After a joint meeting, the associations warned that the whole city would be shut down if action was not taken against the guilty.

Inspector General of police range Vijay Kumar and Deputy Inspector General Braj Bhushan announced the suspension of some police men for negligence and ordered an inquiry into the death. Superintendent of Police city Uday Pratap has assured that the guilty would be booked very soon.
