Lucknow, Sep 7 - A teacher was arrested in Uttar Pradesh's Gorakhpur district on charges of abducting and raping a school girl, and police say that he has 'admitted' to exploiting several minor girls in the recent years.

Kevin Oscar Steel, 33, a music teacher in a Gorakhpur school, has been charged for kidnapping a Class 7 girl of his school. According to police, the girl went missing Aug 15 and a criminal complaint naming Steel as the abductor was lodged by her parents.

'After kidnapping the girl, he first went to Mau and then to Varanasi (both in Uttar Pradesh). He finally reached Jalpaiguri (in West Bengal) and after a few days sent the girl back to Gorakhpur. We arrested him as soon as he reached here Friday,' Additional Superintendent of Police Samar Bahadur Singh told IANS Monday.

The girl's medical examination report confirmed that Steel had sexual relations with her. The law states that even consensual sex with a girl under the age of 16 is considered rape.
