Srinagar, Sep 7 - An irate mob Monday torched two army vehicles in Jammu and Kashmir's Sumbal town after one of them ran over a six-year-old girl.

The accident near the Sumbal colony, 20 km from here, triggered immediate outrage from the locals at the site where Insha lay dead after being run over by an army vehicle that was part of a passing convoy.

The angry mob surrounded the army vehicles which had halted after the accident and torched two of them. Police rushed to the spot. Tension ran high in the town.

Earlier in the day, 20 people were killed and 26 others injured when a passenger bus fell into a deep gorge near Assar village in the hilly Doda district of Jammu region.

All the 26 injured, some of whom were critical, have been airlifted to Jammu for treatment.
