New Delhi, Sep 4 - Four people accused of robbing a jeweller in Gujarat have been arrested by Delhi Police and 2.7 kg of gold jewellery worth about Rs.5 million has been recovered from them, police said Friday.

'Bhagya Narain Mahto and Sunil Mahto were arrested from near New Delhi Railway Station Thursday while they were planning to escape. The duo disclosed that two of their associates are living in Janakpuri in Delhi with their relatives. On that information, Amir Nath and Manoj Kumar Jadav were also arrested,' a police officer said.

On Aug 29, the accused had robbed a father-son jeweller duo in Gujarat. The four had stabbed them and fled with their bag containing gold jewellery. Both father and son are still admitted in a hospital in Ahmedabad.

Delhi Police started investigations into the matter after Gujarat Police sought their assistance to detect some of the accused hiding in the Delhi-NCR area.

'On interrogation, the accused disclosed that the whole robbery was planned by Sunil, who is settled in Gandhi Dham, and works as a mechanic there. All the accused are engaged in agriculture in their hometown in Bihar and had gone to Gujarat with the sole purpose of executing this crime,' the officer said.
