New York, Sep 3 - India's Sania Mirza crashed out of the US Open second round after being handed one of her worst career defeat by Italian Flavia Pennetta 6-0, 6-0 at Flushing Meadows here Wednesday.
The 10th seed Italian took just 50 minutes to complete the whitewash.
Sania, who had reached the fourth round of US Open in her breakthrough year in 2005, committed 28 unforced errors to her opponents 10.
Sania had a break point each in the first and second set, but failed to convert while Pennetta converted all her six break points in the match.
Pennetta, who is the the first Italian woman to reach the world's top 10, will face Canada's Aleksandra Wozniak, who upset French 17th seed Amelie Mauresmo 6-4, 6-0.
'You can't say much when you lose like that,' Sania said.
'She (Pennetta) was exceptionally well today and everything was working for her.
