Ghaziabad, Sep 2 - Prompt police action foiled an attempt to abduct and rape a 14-year-old girl here Wednesday, officials said.
The girl, a student of Class 9, was on her way home after school hours Wednesday afternoon when a man named Javed Khan, 21, offered to drop her home. He, however, took her to a room in the Hindon river area of Ghaziabad and called two other men - Rizwan Ahmed and Mehar Uddin - to the room, police said.
'The girl cried for help, and hearing her screams the neighbours called the police control room (PCR). The police quickly reached the spot and arrested the three men while they were trying to molest the girl,' Senior Superintendent of Police Akhil Kumar said.
'A major incident was averted with the help of locals and prompt police action,' Kumar said.
