New Delhi, Aug 31 - Chairman of the National Commission for the Scheduled Castes Buta Singh Monday informed the Delhi High Court that he is ready to help the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in a bribery case against his son.

After Buta Singh's counsel said his client is ready to be questioned by the CBI, Justice Geeta Mittal asked the investigative agency to interrogate him Sep 10 at his office.

Singh, a former Bihar governor, had said before the court that he held the rank of a union cabinet minister and the central government's sanction is necessary before he is questioned.

On July 30, Buta Singh's son Sarobjit Singh alias Sweety was caught allegedly while taking a bribe of Rs.1 crore (Rs.10 million) from Nashik-based contractor Ramrao Patil, in return for facilitating the withdrawal of a case of atrocities against the Scheduled Castes filed against him.

He was taken to Mumbai the same night and subsequently arrested. He was later freed on bail.
