Amsterdam, Aug 23 (DPA) An 18-year old was killed and seven others injured as a beach rave party attended by thousands of people turned into a mass brawl in the Netherlands.

It was not immediately clear whether the teenager was shot dead or died from other injuries at the party entitled 'Sunset Grooves' near Hoek van Holland Sunday.

Police officers shot down another visitor after they were attacked by him, local officials confirmed, adding the man was in a stable condition.

Police had intervened after gun shots were reported from the brawl. Witnesses confirmed that the officers first fired warning shots after they were attacked by a mob of people.

The party, which figured well-known prominent DJs including Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano, was cancelled immediately after the first shots.

The panicked departure of the crowds caused traffic jams on the surrounding roads, prompting police temporarily to shut down the motorway leading to Rotterdam.
