Moscow, Aug 21 (RIA Novosti) South Korea will launch its first carrier rocket from the country's Naro Space Centre Aug 25, the Yonhap news agency reported Friday.

South Korea postponed the launch of KSLV-1 after a technical problem Aug 19.

The Korea Space Launch Vehicle-1 (KSLV-1) will carry a satellite on board, officials said.

The KSLV-1 was built in collaboration with Russia. The rocket is designed to deliver small satellites into low orbit and can carry a payload of up to 100 kg.

South Korea will build another rocket named KSLV-2 and will be launched by 2018.

The construction of South Korea's Naro Space Centre, first in the country, was completed in June on the Naro Island, some 500 km south of Seoul.

South Korea started its space programme in 1996 and has so far put into orbit 11 satellites launched from foreign countries.
