Dubai, Aug 20 - The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai has bagged the Best Department Award in the field of occupational health and safety of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), WAM news agency reported Thursday.

The announcement was made at the 7th Annual GCC Occupational Health and Safety Conference 2009 held here.

Abdul Mohsin Ibrahim Younes, chief executive officer of the RTA, said the award was in recognition of its efforts in improving the health and safety standards across the region.

The GCC countries include Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Oman.
