Washington, Aug 20 - More and more Americans are getting disenchanted with President Barack Obama's performance as his approval ratings continue to slip.

The latest survey by the Pew Research Center for the People & the Press, conducted Aug 11-17, shows that 51 percent now approve of Obama's job performance as against 54 percent in July.

The president's current ratings are now 10 percent down from the 61 percent he enjoyed just two months ago.

Over 37 percent American disapprove of Obama's performance, the survey says.

According to it, 63 percent Americans now think that the president and Republican Party leaders are not working together to deal with important issues - up a huge 13 percent since June when only 50 percent thought the two sides were not cooperating.

However, more Americans now blame Obama for this non-cooperation with the opposition.

As per the survey, 17 percent Americans think Obama is responsible for the stalemate with Republicans as against 12 percent in June and just 7 percent in February.
