Chandigarh, Aug 12 - In the wake of a poor monsoon in Haryana, Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda Wednesday urged the central government to allocate 400 MW additional power from the unallocated pool of central generation.

'In response to our earlier request, the central government had allocated only 100 MW of additional power for Haryana. Out of this, the actual power coming to Haryana is only 40 MW,' the spokesman of Haryana power utilities said here.

'Hooda had also taken up the matter with Power Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde and informed him that monsoon is very grim this year and poor power supply for agriculture would have serious implications not only for the farmers of Haryana but also for the food security of the country,' he added.

He said that Haryana is not getting about 60 lakh units of power per day arranged from Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh due to technical snags in generating plants.
