New Delhi, Aug 9 - Veteran journalist and former editor of The Statesman D.P. Kumar died of a massive cardiac arrest in Kullu, Himachal Pradesh, at 5 p.m. Sunday, his family members said.

'Debu' to his friends, Kumar was 79 and is survived by his wife Bindi, two daughters Shalini and Himani and son Siddharth, who is also a journalist working with the German news agency DPA.

The venue for the last rights was being decided.
