London, Aug 8 - Women who drink a glass or two of wine daily have better sex lives than those who don't, says a new study.

The University of Florence (U-F) surveyed 800 women between 18 and 50, who were told to rate their sexual satisfaction using the female sexual function index (FSFI).

The FSFI index helps doctors evaluate women's sexual health, based on factors like arousal, orgasm, satisfaction and pain, on a scale of two to 36. The higher the score the better the sexual health.

Women who took two glasses of wine daily scored an average of 27.3. Those who drank a glass every day scored 25.9. Non-drinkers averaged 24.4, said an U-F statement.

Nicola Mondaini, who co-authored the study, says 'historically, the aspects of wine and sexuality have been well known since the time of ancient Greece'.

The research is slated for publication in the Journal of Sexual Medicine.
