Petaling Jaya, Malaysia, Aug 7 - Gaurav Ghei continued to be the best Indian at the end of the third round Friday at the Worldwide Holdings Selangor Masters. Ghei shot a 72 to be three-under 213 for three days and was tied 13th.
He was six shots behind leader Asian Tour rookie Thailand's Kiradech Aphibarnrat who opened up a two-shot lead after the third round to give himself a chance of a maiden title Friday.
The former world junior amateur champion broke clear from the chasing pack following a two-under-par 69 at the Seri Selangor Golf Club for a three-day total of nine-under-par 204.
While Ghei was the leading Indian, the next best was Chinnaswamy Muniyappa, whose fine 66 included two eagles.
Anirban Lahiri (72) and Rahil Gangjee (73) were tied for 27th, while Digvijay Singh (75) slipped down to 43rd. Gaganjeet Bhullar (74) was still way behind in 64th place at six-over 219.
Ghei, who was six off the lead, said he still had a chance. 'On this course anything can happen and hopefully tomorrow I can get a good low round to be in contention. My goal will be to aim for a 66 to have any chance.
