Washington, Aug 6 - Mahesh Bhupathi and Mark Knowles of Bahamas lost to Czech Martin Damm and Sweden's Robert Lindstedt 6-3, 1-6, 14-16 in the second round of the ATP Legg Mason Classic event here.
The Indo-Bahamian pair broke their opponents once to take the first set, but failed to maintain the momentum as Damm and Lindstedt came back strongly.
Both teams fought fiercely in the super tie-break, and it was the unseeded pair of Damm and Lindstedt who advanced to the semifinals after an hour and 26 minutes Wednesday night.
In singles, Somdev Devvarman, who upset World No. 15 Marin Cilic Wednesday, will face Croatian Ivo Carlovic in the singles third round.
Karlovic beat Germany's Rainer Schuettler 6-4, 7-5 in the second round.
Meanwhile, India's Ashutosh Singh and South African Raven Klaasen lost in the first round of ATP Challenger in Campos do Jordao, Brazil. They went down 6-3, 6-7 (7), 10-12 to local favourites Marcelo Demoliner and Rodrigo Guidolin.
