London, Aug 3 - A top terrorist leader whom Pakistan claimed to have killed 10 months ago was Monday shown chatting on news footage that the television channel said was shot just a few days ago.

Sky News said Umer Khalid, also known as Abdul Wali, is 'alive and well' and holding four Pakistani hostages belonging to the Frontier Constabulary security force.

The TV channel showed footage of Khalid, who is the head of Tehrik-i-Taliban and among the most wanted terrorists in Pakistan, relaxing and smiling with a group of young, armed men.

Sky TV said its exclusive footage was shot just 'a few days ago' and will cause 'further embarrassment' to Pakistan authorities.

Pakistan's Interior Minister Rehman Malik told reporters in January that Khalid was among those killed in an attack on militant extremists in the Mohmand Agency, part of Pakistan's Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA).

But the claims were denied by the Taliban at the time.

The television channel showed Khalid boasting an army of 35,000 militants.

Khalid said he had already killed two of the Frontier Constabulary hostages and would kill the rest if Pakistan does not release Taliban militants it currently holds.
