New York, Aug 2 (DPA) A dog survived a six-storey fall from a New York City building and is on its way to recovery after surgery, local broadcaster NY 1 reported Sunday.

Oreo, a one-year-old terrier mix, suffered internal injuries and two broken front legs after the fall.

Police have arrested a 19-year-old man on animal cruelty charges on suspicion of having thrown the animal over the railing of the Brooklyn building, although the charge has been disputed by the man's brother, who says the alleged abuser does not own a dog.
