Srinagar, July 27 - The Jammu and Kashmir assembly session began on a stormy note Monday with legislators of the opposition People's Democratic Party (PDP) stalling the proceedings by shouting slogans against the government over the rape and murder of two women in Shopian town.
Led by party president Mehbooba Mufti, PDP legislators started shouting slogans like
'Produce the killers of Shopian' as the assembly session began here.
Four police officers have been accused of destruction of evidence and dereliction of duty in the the rape and murder of pregnant Nilofar Jan 22, and her sister-in-law Asiya Jan, 17, who were found dead off a stream in Shopian town May 30.
After repeated requests by Speaker Muhammad Akbar Lone failed to restore order, he ordered the marshals to take the protesting PDP legislators out of the house.
