Tegucigalpa, July 27 (Xinhua) The Honduras government Sunday extended a curfew at the Honduran-Nicaraguan border in view of the volatile situation there.

Thousands of supporters of ousted Honduran President Manuel Zelaya were waiting in El Paraiso, close to the Nicaraguan border, for the curfew to end, which was extended by 12 hours, so they can meet their leader at the border.

Zelaya, who is currently in Nicaragua, said Sunday he would announce his plans to return to his country at a press conference soon.

Zelaya's family members were among those waiting in El Paraiso.

On Saturday, the family rejected an offer from the interim government to fly them to Nicaragua in a private jet to meet the ousted leader.

The Honduran leader was ousted from power June 28 in a military coup and was forced into exile in Costa Rica.

On Friday night, Zelaya entered the country through the border to meet his supporters, but went back into the Nicaraguan side after the interim government clamped a curfew to stop his return.
