Tegucigalpa, July 25 (Xinhua) Honduras Friday imposed a curfew at its borders with Nicaragua and EL Salvador apparently to block ousted President Manuel Zelaya's return to the country.

The interim government said the curfew will remain at the border areas till Saturday morning.

Meanwhile, clashes broke out between Zelaya's supporters and the Honduran military in the La Manos sector of the Honduran-Nicaraguan border.

The military and the police fired warning gunshots into the air and hurled tear gas shells to disperse the crowd.

At least 18 military checkpost were set up between Tegucigalpa and the Nicaraguan border.

Zelaya's supporters gathered in La Manos to welcome him home after news spread that the ousted Honduran leader was planning to enter the country.

The Honduran Army said in a statement that they would 'not be responsible for the security of the people who encourage violence in the country'.
