New Delhi, July 24 - Former central minister Jagdish Tytler was Friday made in charge of the Congress party's affairs in Bihar as the incumbent, Iqbal Singh, has been made lieutenant governor of Puducherry.

'Consequent upon Iqbal Singh being appointed lieutenant governor of Puducherry, Congress president Sonia Gandhi has appointed Jagdish Tytler as in-charge of Bihar,' Janardan Dwivedi, in-charge of the party's media department, said.

Senior leader Tytler was to contest the Lok Sabha elections from New Delhi but was replaced with J.P. Agarwal after people's protests against the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) giving him a clean chit in a 1984 anti-Sikh riots case.
