Dhaka, July 22 - A leading daily newspaper Wednesday welcomed former Indian President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam's call for developing alternative sources of energy and new science-based models of development.
His words during his three-day visit here 'reverberated among the development thinkers, and the scientists as a source of inspiration', The Daily Star said in an editorial.
'Being a man of science, it is therefore very natural that the former Indian president laid his greatest emphasis on researches in science and technology and creativity as the basis of sustainable development in society,' the newspaper observed.
Kalam delivered a lecture at the Bangladesh University for Engineering and Technology (BUET), besides visiting the Dhaka University and Grameen, the rural credit network headquarters.
