Hanuman, also known as 'Anjaneya', is one of the most important personalities in the Indian Epic, Ramayana. He stands as the prime example of a Bhakta (devotee of God) in popular conception. Anjaneya embodies unalloyed devotion and is a unique symbol of courage, commitment and perseverance. This Audio CD presents the work of several composers, in multiple languages which demonstrates the universal appeal of Anjaneya. Seven songs on Anjaneya have been rendered in a concert format.
Chitra Srikrishna, a disciple of Smt. Seethalakshmi Venkatesan of Bangalore, has performed widely in India and overseas. She is an ardent practitioner of the Semmangudi tradition, having trained under Shri OS Tyagarajan and Shri. V. Subrahmanian. She is a graded artiste of All India Radio. She is accompanied by Charulatha Ramanujan on the violin and C. Cheluvaraju on the mridangam. The highlight of this recording is a detailed exposition of Saveri raga followed by the kriti 'Anjaneya' with neraval and swaram.
